VALUABLE REWARDS IN USING GEOPURES MATS FOR COOLING TOWERS ARE:

1. Drastically reducing (TDS) and rust build up in the pipes and heat exchanges.
2. Drastically reducing the useage of water from bleed off.
3. Keeping the plate count and legionella under control.
4. Power saving and saving the environment.

Total Dissolved Solids & Scale

Water, is a good solvent and picks up impurities easily. Pure water--tasteless, colourless, and odorless—is often called the universal solvent. Total dissolved solids (TDS) comprise inorganic salts(principally calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, bicarbonates, chlorides and sulfates) and some small amounts of organic matter that are dissolved in water. This is also called, hard water. With TDS in the pipes and valves of cooling towers and evaporator condensers, scale, which is formed by TDS, builds up in the pipes and valves and increases power used, to push the water through the pipes. With a build up of only 5mm of scale, an extra 40% more electricity is used. Reduce the scale, and keep the pipes clean, and you will save 40% power.

By placing 3-4 bands of mats, according to the quantity of water in the towers, with each mat measuring 250 x 300mm, the mats send a frequency into the water, which resonates the molecules of the scale build up, and starts to break the scale down. Because the water is moving at speed, the magnetic field works very efficiently. If the water does not move quickly, the magnetic field will not work as quick. The scale when broken down will mix with the water and is then passed into the side stream filter, which can be cleaned out. This process can take up to 2-3 months. If the pipes are half clogged with scale and rust, it may take a little longer.

A test was carried out at a major shopping complex in Brisbane, with outstanding results. After some 8 months, the pipes were disconnected from the heat exchanger, and the inside of the pipes were very clean and one could see that the scale had been removed.

Drastically Reduces Water Bleed Off

With the mats in place, and as the water travels through the pipes, the frequency attacks the solids in the water. With the magnetism working, this breaks down the solids. The more solids in the water, the more the bleed off. With the test, the percentage started off at 23% bleed off, which was about 14000 litres in the summer and about 8000 litres in the winter. After about 3 months the total amount of bleed off was between 0%- 6%. The mats were removed for about a month, which raised the bleed off once again. As soon as the mats were replaced the percentage dropped again. The percentages were from 23% to about 5%. The amount of water saved would be approx. 2.3 million litres of water per year.

Maintenance Control

With the Geopure Mats in place, maintenance will be drastically reduced. It will be up to the chemical Companies to decide if the chemicals need to be reduced or not. The magnetic field will have no effect on any sensitive meters, if they are more than one meter away from the mats, These mats can travel by air freight, with no effect to aircraft instruments.

Plate count and Legionella

One of the biggest problems with cooling towers is to keep the plate count down within the Australian Safety margin for cooling towers, which is 100,000 colony forming units, and also the legionella, out of the towers.
The millions of frequencies that are put out by the mats, confuses the working ability of the bacteria, and so the bacteria die off. All bacteria have a frequency range, and the mats cover this range. With the test taken in Brisbane, the test showed a less than 2000 cfu’s, for the plate count, and a less than 10 for the legionella. These tests are carried out by a NATA Accredited Laboratory in Brisbane.

Power Saving and Carbon Emissions

If the pipes have a coating of scale with a depth of only 5mm, the power output will increase by about 40%, as the tower has to produce more power to force the water through. If the pipes are clear of the scale, the tower will save 40% power. If all towers had Geopure’s mats installed, just imagine how much power would be saved, and the less amount of pollution going into the atmosphere, as the power stations, wouldn’t have to work as hard. Clean pipes, clean air.

How does magnetic water treatment work

The physical laws state that the ‘flow rate’ is an interaction between magnetic fields and water molecules which is not strong. This has no effect on still water. Water must be moving.
With the Geopure Water Treatment Mats, the water passes through alternating magnetic fields with speed. All molecules and bacteria vibrate. By going past this magnetic vibrating frequency, the molecules and bacteria resonate because of the magnetic field sequence. This breaks down the molecules .
With this action, the calcium is unable to form on the pipes, as the frequency is continually breaking down the calcium particles and water solids. Also, the rust that has formed in the pipes before the mats were placed, will be broken down and the rust will turn into a powder form, oxide, and will be flushed away. This will enable the pipes to stay clean. If the mats are removed, the scale buildup will start again.
The power of the mats will run 24-7, as the magnets that are used, are permanent magnets.

Installation of the Mats

The 3-4 bands of mats are installed before the heat exchanger, as this gives the maximum power needed for eliminating the scale. The mats need to be placed on pipes that are either Stainless steel, plastic or copper. If the mats are placed on steel pipes, the steel absorbs the power from the mats, and the process will not work. If the pipes are steel, then a 1000mm section of stainless steel, needs
to be placed in the line before the heat exchanger.
